How To Be A Great Property Manager
Do you have what it takes to be a great property manager? It isn’t an easy feat and it takes a strong person.
Here are some tips to help:
Ø You will hear a lot of things that aren’t always easy to hear so having thick skin is a huge plus in this business. Tenants can be tough so you will need to be able to remain calm and keep your thoughts clear when you are dealing with anyone that is unhappy.
Ø Always be aware of what is going on and ask questions. Know the property and its surroundings. Always be prepared to share with people the beauty of the location and why they fit right in. Know your tenants and speak to them. They love to know that you know who they are as it makes them feel more at home as ever.
Ø Connect with your staff. Making sure that everyone on your team understands what is going on and know their tasks and priorities helps keep everyone on the same page.
Ø List making sounds very elementary but it is integral in the success of every busy person no matter their profession. Create a priority list at the end of each day for the next day. Review the list in the morning and prioritize the list. What needs your attention first should be higher on the list than the minor ones.
Ø Do not jump around on tasks. This will only cause you to not give 100%. If you are on one task, stick to that one until completion. Studies show that working on tasks at a time is the most efficient way to succeed. If you have tasks that are similar to one another, group them together and deal with them at the same time.
Ø MOST IMPORTANT is to remember to laugh. Do not get mad at yourself or get down when something doesn’t go your way. The stress and frustration from the job can be mind blowing so take some time to find the funny in your day and laugh out loud! Laughter helps everyone get the negative energy out of their bodies and everyone will remember why they love their jobs.
